Thomas Navarro is an astronaut who studies the atmospheres of terrestrial planets using data assimilation and atmospheric models to understand their physics. His works have been published in scientific journals.
Dean Navarro has presided over various Circuit Felony divisions, such as Drug Court, Family Violence Court, Juvenile Drug Court and Domestic Violence Court. She has also organized lawyer well-being workshops.
Early Life and Education
Early in his career, Navarro assisted with school construction. Additionally, he advocated on behalf of Tejanos whom many Anglo-Texans held in contempt following the Texas Revolution. Navarro generally supported statehood policies advocated by President Mirabeau B. Lamar while opposing those advocated by Sam Houston.
In September 1999, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma brain cancer and instructed by doctors that antineoplaston therapy might improve his chances of survival but expressed concern that FDA might prohibit its use as treatment option.
The decision by the Navarros to pursue antineoplaston treatment underscores a crucial principle in medical practice: limited government and liberal societies enable individuals to select treatments which best align with their values.
Professional Career
In his professional career, Navarro has overseen operations for a major financial institution, overseeing teller lines and training teller associates while communicating bank goals, expectations and progress to all associates. Furthermore, he has extensive experience interfacing with sales associates and senior executives to promote communication between departments.
At Navarro College, he co-sponsored the Psi Beta National Honor Society for Junior and Community Colleges as well as baseball coaching and academic support activities. Furthermore, he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and can fluently speak both oral and written Spanish.
Achievement and Honors
Ms. Navarro has long been a staunch supporter of Navarro College and its athletics program, earning her recognition with the Gallery of Distinction award, given annually to individuals who have shown extraordinary generosity by helping promote and further the college’s mission.
In 2022, she was honored as Hispanic Bar Association of Central Florida Jurist of the Year and served on both Ninth and Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Circuit Court benches as a judge.
She enjoys traveling and learning languages in her free time, participating in science communication and outreach events and serving on Morgan State University’s External Research Advisory Board. In her spare time she loves running and socializing with others – including being part of JIC Student Voice group.
Personal Life
Thomas Navarro is married and the proud parent of five sons. An avid tennis player and travel enthusiast, Thomas also finds great pleasure in socializing with friends and colleagues as well as taking part in several outreach initiatives with JIC community.
Navarro serves in Florida’s seventeenth judicial circuit and handles cases ranging from first-degree misdemeanors to life felonies – she is the first Hispanic American judge ever appointed to this role. Before becoming a judge, she worked at Miami-Dade County’s Family and Domestic Violence division before graduating with honors from St Thomas University College of Law cum laude.
Navarro was one of the key figures behind Spain’s Scientific Modernization movement as part of the Center of Historical Studies (CEH in Spanish). He is widely recognized for pioneering research methodology into Linguistics through his Manual de Pronunciacion Espanola project.
