Thomas Judd’s work displays his fascination with space as an actual material. Often, he would encase it with other substances such as copper and concrete to give his concept more dimension.

Early Life and Education

Tom Judd was born in Lawrenceville, New Jersey to Heber J. Grant – an influential Mormon president – although neither he nor his family is active within the faith.

Thomas Judd Store at 62 West Tabernacle Street is one of St. George’s oldest family-run businesses, having first opened for business in 1911. Its building dates back to late 1800s; an earlier home (also a Clio entry) was moved behind it for use as part of its decor.

Judd was Bishop of St. George 1st Ward from 1879-1897 before leaving to colonize Whitewater, Nevada. Later he sold much of his interest in LaVerkin including Pah Tempe Hot Springs to a developer for development purposes. Deacon Thomas died 12 November 1688 without ever being recorded in Northampton records; therefore his descendants made arrangements for this stone to be placed near where his grave lies on November 12.

On April 6th 2019, residents in Oviedo’s Palm Valley Community greeted a Navy reserve lieutenant commander named Judd, who had recently returned from New York City after treating COVID-19 patients there. To show their appreciation, they lined the streets with golf carts decorated in red, white and blue to welcome home their hometown hero and surprise him. Judd was completely moved by this wonderful gesture.

Personal Life

Tom Judd was the grandson of Mormon President Heber J. Grant; however, his family were not active members in the faith. Tom has an impressive track record of public service and community involvement.

He has narrated over 200 audiobooks and won two AudioFile Earphones awards, in addition to being an accomplished actor having trained at Drama Studio London.

While studying art at the University of Utah, Judd came into contact with artists Alex Katz and Rafael Ferrer, whom he credits with shaping his artistic direction. Later, he transferred to Philadelphia College of Art where he studied under Ferrer and Bob Kulicke before earning a BFA in painting from that institution. Judd has shown at both commercial galleries in New York and Philadelphia and held multiple solo exhibits within each city.
