DeviantArt was initially founded as a community space to foster collective creativity. However, as internet culture increasingly conforms toward homogeneity and passivity, once-vibrant art communities like DeviantArt’s are becoming casualties of social media’s rapid ascension. Maja Wronska initially was wary of DeviantArt when she joined 10 years ago; previously she had used another site where users ranked artworks from 1-5 ratings systems that made her uncomfortable.

The Thomas TV series premiered in 1984 with former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr as storyteller and portrayal of Mr. Conductor character; he continued in this capacity until 1989, when it transitioned to Shining Time Station (in US only).
