Steve Solheim was born in Norway’s Averoy island. Growing up between sea and mountain scapes, his early love of music manifested itself from an early age.
Early Life and Education
Solheim was born in Averoy, Norway – a small island off of Norway – and spent his early years there enjoying nature and music. From early on he played organ, and later began composing in his teens after being inspired by various electronic genres; all while developing his own unique sound. Additionally he studied at Colorado University.
He was an active community member, having served on the Decorah City Council for three years and the Decorah Genealogy Association for five. Additionally, he volunteered at the Decorah Senior Center where he assisted seniors in filing income tax returns.

Bemidji High School baseball excelled on both fronts on Thursday at Bemidji State University’s baseball diamond. Senior Zach Solheim allowed just one hit through six innings, while Ryan Stevens delivered a perfect seventh. Together they led Bemidji to a 3-0 section opener win against Brainerd.

Under his moniker of CURRENTTMUSIK he released several downtempo and ambient techno albums; founded the Norwegian label AQUAVIT RECORDS which strives to release quality electronic music; signed a major record contract in 2015 by Sony Music; released Faded which instantly became one of Europe’s top hits and now has amassed over two billion YouTube views; signed to Sony Music as well.
Solheim held several jobs outside of Quaker Oats and Valley Co-op, including carpentry work. He found great joy in crafting homes that were both functional and beautiful, finding great satisfaction in his profession. Additionally, he attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and is survived by his wife Linda; children Layne, Derek, and Heidi as well as grandchildren.
