At his funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina, Cheryl Rex described her son as always wearing military attire and being wise beyond his years.

Kurt Herbert Adler established the Merola Opera Program in 1948 as a way of equipping young artists for professional careers in opera. Over seventy-five years, Merola alumni have gone on to become some of the most acclaimed singers and directors. The 12 week all-expenses paid summer program includes fully staged operas with orchestra and scenes concerts to put into practice what has been learned during the program; providing Merola graduates a more accurate picture of what to expect when embarking upon future endeavors.

Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola of Upland and Rancho Cucamonga was remembered by friends and family as being larger-than-life with an infectious laugh who dedicated his life to serving his nation. He was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina.

Personal Life
After his death in Afghanistan, one of three Marines from the Inland Empire was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina on Jan. 15. Over one hundred friends and family attended this service at which several speakers described Merola as larger-than-life and wise beyond his years.
He was an avid sports fan who found enjoyment spending time outdoors. Additionally, he traveled widely throughout his life and is survived by both of his parents as well as two sisters.
This couple married on April 2421 at Valenzano Family Winery in Shamong, New Jersey. Since then they have resided in Westerleigh with one daughter each and been together approximately 11 years; bride is daughter of Tami Groth of Fort Meyers Florida while groom is son of John Tori from Silver Lake New Jersey.
