Her new book, Myth and Menagerie: Encountering Lions in Nineteenth-Century Art, examines various encounters between artists, their audiences and lions that took place across salon exhibitions, studio spaces and circus menageries during the nineteenth century.

He lives in Tarzana with his wife Bryna and two children Ethan and Ella. His interests include astronomy, impressionist and modern art as well as cooking. At Release Recovery, he serves as program coordinator. Since 2015 he has been in recovery and uses this experience to assist his clients in reaching their goals. His specialty lies in working with young people in recovery and college students alike as well as helping all his clients adjust to life within New York’s recovery community.

Hornstein has not only dedicated himself to research and innovation but has also shown his service to his community through Curt’s Cafe, an organization providing workforce and life skills training for at-risk youth. Furthermore, he currently sits as a judge in New York City Criminal Court.

Hornstein serves on the board of directors for Long Island University and leads its Hornstein Center for Policy, Polling and Analysis; studies produced there inform public audiences and policy makers alike on various pressing issues.
