McGinnis joined the American Basketball Association’s Indianapolis Pacers after one season in the Big Ten and quickly rose to superstardom there. Winning two championships with them between 1973 and 1974 before they eventually joined the NBA, McGinnis averaged nearly 30 points per game while with them.

McGinnis was an integral member of two championship-winning Pacers teams during his two years with them, winning an ABA Player of the Year Award in 1973 by averaging 29.5 points and 12.3 rebounds per game.

DeSousa was also an accomplished soldier, receiving the Medal of Honor for his actions in Iraq. Additionally, his awards included Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Iraq Campaign Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
