Steve Leard – Regions Bank Market Executive
Steve’s passion and energy for Apple caused him to lose much of the trust of his employees, even to the point of planning a coup within its management board.
He managed to turn around the company by offering bonuses to manufacturers who delivered on time – an initiative which motivated manufacturers and contributed greatly towards helping the business in its early years of success.
Early Life and Education
Steve was born and raised in San Francisco and holds an American passport. As founding partner at Affiance Financial, he assists individuals in organizing their finances so that they can focus on family, work, philanthropy, and leisure activities without worrying about finances.
He spent 20 years as a newspaper executive with Topeka Capital-Journal, Manhattan Mercury and Lawrence Journal-World where he oversaw sports writing, column writing, page design and special sections. Additionally, he is the author of two books including, Happily Ever After: Expert Advice for Achieve Retirement Dreams.”
As a keynote/endnote speaker, Steve energises audiences with his extensive knowledge, stories of successful practice, and engaging humor. His messages of engagement, innovation, and entrepreneurial leadership resonate strongly in both business and educational settings.
Professional Career
He has produced designs for numerous publishers and brands, developing innovative ideas in an engaging format. His work encompasses book design, branding and typography – with particular expertise in adapting existing texts into new formats.
He made several television movies, such as Catlow (1971), as well as numerous episodes of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery and Columbo. From 1994-1997 he also narrated Ancient Mysteries series on A&E.

Achievement and Honors
Plymouth-based designer Steve Leard was recently nominated for three Academy of British Cover Design awards this year, including The Mountain That Eats Men (Zed Books) and Off Life from Zed Books as well as Yellow a casebound book published through Kickstarter by Daniel Humphry with artwork provided by Gavin Strange.
Two EMU students were recognized this spring for outstanding service and leadership: Aaron Horst was recognized for his work-study contributions to the theater department as well as for acting in an original production as a dramaturg; Justice Allen received special recognition for her co-presidency of Student Government Association, leadership on cross country team, commitment to building community at EMU as co-presidential role within Student Government Association as co-Presidential role and her long-term service at EMU via nine Community Assistants receiving long term service awards from EMU. Personal Life
Lawrence shares three children with Eydie Gorme. Together they starred on NBC’s summer replacement series The Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme Show; additionally they have made appearances on The Flip Wilson Show, Night Gallery and Danny Kaye Show as well as panel shows such as What’s My Line?.
Leard is a graphic designer from Plymouth specializing in book design, branding and illustration. His clients include publishers and brands of all sizes looking for innovative ways to communicate their ideas in an appealing manner.
