On May 10, 1929, he was born in Jamaica, Queens, New York to a Black Panther Party family and was actively engaged in prison reform efforts. Additionally, his comedic talents were well-known.
He had a relatively normal childhood. He attended one of the top public schools, earning himself a scholarship. However, once there, he neglected his studies and became an underachiever. Additionally, he was heavy smoker with lots of social anxiety but did not let this affect him negatively; rather he found an outlet for his frustration by turning it into writing which propelled him forward into political prominence.
Professional Career
Slomo George achieved many remarkable accomplishments during his professional boxing career, such as lifting more weight than his peers and winning more matches per match. But perhaps his greatest claim to fame was winning the WBO heavyweight crown in 1995 with 163 punches – then setting what would become known as boxing’s best punching record ever. Unfortunately for him, most of his matches involved beating up on weaker opponents. Aside from earning handsome paychecks throughout his career, he also earned a place in history by becoming the first American light heavyweight to ever win three different divisional world championships simultaneously.
