Early Life and Education
Shaquem Griffin’s story of overcoming disability and making the NFL is well-known among football fans. Born with amniotic band syndrome, which caused his left hand to underdevelop, Shaquem eventually lost all use of his fingers at age four due to amniotic band syndrome but refused to let that stop him from reaching his goals.
At Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Florida he took part in track, baseball, and football along with his twin brother. As one of the premier athletes on his team he earned multiple honors, such as an invitation to participate in the 2011 Under Armour Combine.
