Selma Blair Met Gala 2009

Selma Blair – Honoree of the Met Gala 2009

The 2009 Met Gala was a night full of fashion and glamour. Many attendees chose to wear gowns by the likes of John Galliano, Darren Aronofsky, Alexander McQueen, and Christian Siriano. Others, such as Katy Perry, Jessica Biel, and Ivanka Trump, chose to wear dresses with a touch of yellow or orange.

The evening’s main honoree was actress Selma Blair. Blair is a veteran actor with an impressive resume of film and television roles. She has worked with some of the greatest directors and producers of our time. Known as a star with a knack for comedy, she has also taken on a variety of dramatic roles.

While Blair has not publicly revealed her diagnosis, it was known she had multiple sclerosis. It is an autoimmune disease, and occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the protective sheath of nerve fibers in the brain and spinal cord. This causes problems with muscle control, balance, and vision. Treatment can improve the symptoms of the disease. In addition to the medical complications, Blair had to cope with depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. Despite these challenges, she was determined to keep moving forward.

Selma Blair has been featured in numerous films, such as Anger Management, Legally Blonde, and Dark Horse. She has also been a voice actress for the audio book The Diary of Anne Frank. Throughout her career, Blair has starred in a variety of television shows and has been nominated for several awards. Her work has earned her a spot in Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year” for the year 2017.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects the central nervous system, including the brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord. It is the result of the body’s immune system attacking the myelin, a protective sheath surrounding the nerve fibers. Since the myelin is damaged, messages from the brain reach the rest of the body, which may lead to symptoms such as headaches, vision problems, muscle weakness, or difficulty walking.

After Blair was diagnosed with MS, she began treatment to help alleviate the symptoms. But the disease continued to progress, and she eventually suffered from symptoms of vertigo. Eventually, she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue and neck pain, as well. However, she is still open about her battle with the disease and hopes to raise awareness about it. Fortunately, the social media audience has been supportive, and Blair has been able to share her experiences and advice with others suffering from the same condition.

As an actress, Blair has acted in numerous films, such as Kath & Kim, Hellboy II, The Big Empty, and The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story. She has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, such as Guillermo del Toro and Todd Solondz. Although she continues to struggle with her illness, Blair is dedicated to raising awareness of MS and encouraging others to live their best life. A pathfinder for those with the condition, she is also a shining example of the strength, perseverance, and dedication required to overcome adversity.
