As a teenager, she attended drive-in theaters on State Street with both friends and a date. “You would drive your car through the front lot, load up on snacks and beverages before parking near the screen. Sometimes even your friends could sneak inside your trunk.”

The prize-winning 17-minute short marks the project’s evolution from fundraising and planning to active restoration of a wetland, as well as celebrating how some parts of Goleta’s ancient Chumash wetland are returning to their original purpose as habitat.

Cottage Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation will host a screening of I Am My Power on October 21, 2021 for family viewers. This award-winning documentary recounts four individuals’ stories who overcome hardship to discover their individual strength and help inspire others to do the same.
