Roast Turkey with Garlic-Sage Butter

This roast turkey recipe is an easy yet flavorful way to prepare your holiday meal. A combination of salt, pepper and a tasty compound butter keeps the bird moist and tender. If you’d like to add some extra herbs and spices, try placing a few pats of herb-infused butter under the skin all around the turkey before cooking.

Ingredients:

For the herb-infused butter, combine 1 cup of oil with 2 tablespoons of a poultry seasoning mixture and 4 minced garlic cloves in a small bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours before roasting the turkey.

Rub the outside of the turkey with the herb-infused butter and season with salt and pepper. If you’d like to add some fresh herbs and spices, you can add a few fresh thyme sprigs or rosemary leaves.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Set the roasting rack in a large, heavy roasting pan with a lid. Place the turkey in the pan and roast for 30 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F and continue roasting, basting occasionally with the reserved oil until the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165 degrees F.
