FS1 Player Profile – Marshall Henry

Henry recently met with Jason Whitlock of FS1 to discuss his time spent on Last Chance U, his relationship with Independence head coach Jason Brown and where he sees himself next season.

Malik Henry was born on the 7th July 1998 and holds an American nationality. His father’s name is Marchell.

Early Life and Education

Henry first gained notice through his appearances in Netflix documentary series Last Chance U, Seasons 3 and 4. He played at Independence Community College.

His father, Marchell, encouraged him to focus on football over other sports. Additionally, he suffered from depression issues during his teenage years and attended Oaks Christian School, Harvard-Westlake School, Long Beach Poly High school and IMG Academy for his education.

His multiracial ethnicity and Christian religion make up his multiracial heritage. Born on 7th July 1998 and currently 21 years old, he is Marchell Henry’s son by an unknown mother residing in California United States he currently is not married and does not have children as of yet.

Professional Career

At Florida State, he was considered a five-star recruit; however, since signing, his performance has fallen far short of expectation. After attending Oaks Christian and Westlake high schools before concluding his senior year at IMG Academy. Due to frequent transfers within high school and throughout college life, Rivals reduced him from five stars to four.

Brown acknowledges Henry is an extremely gifted player with one of the highest football IQs among any junior college quarterback he has worked with; however, his issues with coaches appear more related to maturity issues rather than talent.

Henry made headlines this summer after signing with the Frisco Fighters of the Indoor Football League and hoping to establish himself over time through their roster moves and recruiter outreach efforts. He may struggle to establish himself for long term, yet hopes to expand his presence with recruiters through this practice of moving around leagues frequently.

Achievement and Honors

Henry has served on many local and state boards. Additionally, he is actively engaged in church leadership – serving as Sunday school teacher, superintendent, lay speaker as well as deacon or trustee from time to time at his congregation.

Henry first rose to fame thanks to his appearances on season three and four of Netflix’s Last Chance U, but his time at Florida State was marred by controversy, including disagreements with head coach Jason Brown.

Henry has yet to speak out publicly since the show concluded, though his father supports his decision to play football and feels that it failed to properly portray their relationship.

Personal Life

At present, Henry is playing for the Frisco Fighters of the Indoor Football League and his future prospects remain unclear; however a couple of schools have expressed an interest in him.

He prefers living an inconspicuous life away from media scrutiny. While not disclosing much about himself or his personal life, Henry has spoken openly about struggling with depression. Additionally, Marchell Henry has voiced concerns regarding how Last Chance U has misrepresented him negatively.

He is an American citizen and practices Christianity as his faith. Born on 7th July 1998 under Cancer zodiac sign. For formal education he attended Oaks Christian School, Harvard-Westlake school, Long Beach Poly High School and IMG Academy.
