Kim Kardashian Sauna Suit

Is Kim Kardashian Using a Sauna Suit to Lose Weight?

Last week, Kim Kardashian made headlines when she revealed her intense diet and exercise regimen to fit into Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress for the Met Gala 2022. According to reports, Kim had shed 15 pounds in just three weeks by eating “only the cleanest veggies and protein,” running on a treadmill, and wearing a sauna suit twice daily as part of an effort to burn fat and tone up.

While many celebrated Kardashian’s efforts to shed pounds for a night on the red carpet, others online criticized it as encouraging unhealthy eating habits that weren’t recommended by dietitians and nutritionists. According to Allure magazine’s recent article, Kardashian was so determined to fit into her dress that she stopped eating pizza and donuts for weeks in an effort to curb her appetite.

She quickly gained back her lost weight once she began eating again, likely due to an excess of water weight – known as ‘water retention’ which can occur when cutting carbs or eating too little salt.

Nichola Ludlam-Raine, a dietitian at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center in Gainesville, Florida, noted that rapid weight loss can be due to fluid retention. She warned against this practice because excessive water weight could potentially lead to dehydration and heat stroke.

According to Livestrong foundation spokesperson Alex Holland, using a sauna suit as part of your weight loss regime is not only unhealthy but potentially hazardous. They raise body temperature and elevate heart rate beyond safe limits, making them unsafe when used frequently for extended periods.

Livestrong reports that some people have died after using sauna suits. Furthermore, these dehydration and electrolyte levels can be depleted, leading to serious health complications including organ failure or even death.

Lili Reinhart, star of Riverdale, took to Instagram to denounce Kardashian’s remarks about losing weight for that dress. She wrote: “Kim K’s remarks on having to sacrifice so much are ignorant and disgusting.”

Another star had some harsh words for her statement, with Allure reporting actress Charlotte Vogueshe was disappointed that the 41-year-old hadn’t shed more pounds before the Met Gala. On a recent episode of The Kardashians, Vogueshe admitted on camera that if she hadn’t lost weight for the event, she wouldn’t have eaten pizza and donuts at the event.

She revealed that she had “suffered” from eating too little in the past, saying: “I have never been that thin in my life – it is so frustrating!”

The Kardashians have often been praised for their healthy lifestyle choices, but some have criticized some of their more extreme eating and exercising practices as well. Khloe Kardashian, for instance, has been known to wear plastic pants during workouts.

The Kardashians’ diet and exercise regimens are well-known, often including hill sprints, pushups, and stairmasters in their backyard in Los Angeles. It’s not uncommon for the family to record workout videos and share them with fans via Snapchat accounts.
