In 1948, he assisted the Shelley family to successfully challenge restrictive covenants that prevented them from purchasing their home in their neighborhood. He advised sociological research on their social cost before crafting an argument to use in court against these covenants.
He has performed all over the world and released several albums. His Spalted Mango Tiny Tenor Ukulele has won him widespread acclaim.
Early Life and Education
Kahen Daniels was born and raised in Toronto, Canada with an avid passion for sports. At CBC he made his mark as a broadcaster, covering events such as Champ Car/Indy-Car World Series, Formula One Grand Prix and Toronto Blue Jays baseball games; additionally broadcasting two Olympic Games!
Daniels won two Tallahassee QB Club Player of the Year awards during his high school career: one each for football and basketball. This made him Florida’s first student-athlete to receive both honors.
He holds offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Auburn among others, but is leaning toward Florida as his top choice. Both On3 and Rivals rate him as a four-star recruit and his chances of attending Gainesville have an 88% probability. In 2009 they did not have such a running back commitment like him – Chris Davis from Picayune will join him there as his fellow running back commitment!
Professional Career
Daniels made headlines for his outstanding college career at USF from 2009 to 2012 when he amassed 10,501 total yards and 21 wins as the Bulls starting quarterback, amassing 10,501 total yards and 21 victories during that span. Professionly he played professionally with Saskatchewan Roughriders (CFL), Salt Lake Stallions (AAF) and Seattle Dragons of Alliance of American Football before consulting as quality control assistant with USF football program in 2021.
Daniels has become one of the world’s foremost experts on playing ‘ukulele, as an artist/instructor for Yamaha Musician’s Creativity Lab and an endorser of Romero Creations Tiny Tenor, XS Soprano and ST Concert ukuleles from Romero Creations. Additionally, he has performed extensively throughout Japan, Korea, Taiwan Hong Kong Brunei Thailand as a musician/composer and guest lectured numerous U.S. embassies as guest lecturer/composer/author. Daniels original ukulele song Pineapple Mango has garnered worldwide attention and even featured on Ukulele Magazine covers!
Achievement and Honors
Daniels received the American Academy of Accounting and Finance Distinguished Contribution to Accounting Literature Award in 2022 for his contributions in accounting research. Specifically, he published numerous articles and books related to accounting research while serving on editorial boards of several journals such as Journal of Accountancy and Contemporary Accounting Research. Daniels taught cost accounting, financial reporting and managerial accounting undergraduate and PhD level courses; moreover he joined USF Athletics Bulls Club staff as Assistant Director for Community Donor Engagement to engage alumni and students with its mission.
Personal Life
He had an insatiable passion for music, playing keyboards, guitar, bass and drums among other instruments. Additionally, he composed music classes at several prime-time TV shows and movies and led Kilauea (a contemporary jazz group he led as leader, keyboardist and composer).
He currently serves as Assistant Director of Development – Community and Donor Engagement for USF Athletics Bulls Club, engaging alumni and donors to provide student-athletes with assistance. Prior to this role, he served as quarterbacks coach at Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida.
She loved spending time with her family and often attended her son’s sporting events. She is survived by her mother, Sondra Porter of Monmouth; 3 sisters: Cari Noll from Washington State, Josie Thomas (Justin Thomas), Sarah Wilson and Brandon Shinn from Monmouth; nephews and nieces including Ivy Roden Halee Porter Fox H Roden as well as their families.

Daniels earned PrepStar and Pro Football Report All-American honors during his senior year at Naperville Central High School, and was selected by Houston Texans with the 98th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Daniels would go on to play seven seasons for Houston before moving on to play for Baltimore Ravens and Denver Broncos respectively.
He is an accomplished entrepreneur as well, co-owning a sports training facility in Houston as well as founding O Athletik sports apparel line and investing in real estate properties.
