Early Life and Education
John was first exposed to music at an early age while growing up in Hawaii. As a kid he could explore the island and learn various genres of music. Later he joined The Hawaiian Children’s Chorus as their lead Soprano Vocalist and traveled around the island performing for children of all ages at events organized by them.
He began studying music at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus. There he gained an immense amount of knowledge and was able to share his enthusiasm for music with others by teaching guitar and Ukulele lessons. Later, he continued his education by moving to Los Angeles in pursuit of musical excellence; today he owns his own studio and continues learning new styles of music.
As a top executive at the Information Technology Industry Council, John was instrumental in driving numerous global policy initiatives related to trade, cybersecurity and standards. As senior vice president of public policy and government relations for ITIC, he led an international team of high-level leaders on trade policy, privacy protection and cybersecurity matters. Furthermore, John played an integral role in creating many of their flagship products – including its best-selling security services – which were later acquired by Cisco Systems.
John’s passion for music was evident, as he traveled with his wife to some of the world’s biggest musical festivals and performed in numerous bands. A self-declared guitar geek, John loved to rock out to all kinds of tunes both live and in the recording studio. His favorite genres are glam rock and psychedelic rock; always on the lookout for new material to add to his ever-growing library of favorite tracks.
