Early Life and Education

Children learn a great deal about themselves and the world around them during their early years. Parents teach them the alphabet, shapes and colors, as well as how to walk and feed themselves.

But for healthy development, children require active stimulation and socialization with others. The classroom is where they can put these skills to the test in a real-world setting and make their first acquaintances outside of their family circle.

This is a critical period, one that has been demonstrated to foster educational achievement, economic productivity, responsible citizenship, lifelong health and strong communities. UNESCO believes that high quality early childhood education is one of the most crucial investments a country can make to promote holistic development, gender equality and social cohesion.

Professional Career

As the new production manager of Phoenix Inspection Systems, John brings with him extensive expertise in nuclear, pharmaceutical and food industries. The company is renowned for its thermal insulation technology and he keeps an eye on their ever-growing clientele. John also supports Peoria Police Department by volunteering in their community relations division. On a more personal note, John enjoys playing golf and lending his name to a local polo club. Despite his hectic schedule, he still finds time for family dinners and leisurely walks down memory lane at the pub.

Achievements and Honors

Boughey, a high school senior, is no stranger to activism. After Sandy Hook, her family and she joined the 26 Random Acts of Kindness campaign – which involves doing something kind for someone without expecting anything in return – which encourages students to do something nice for someone else without expecting anything back.

She took to social media in an effort to inform her followers about the advantages of activism. Her YouTube video was named one of the top 10 student videos by an education website and she hosted an online forum with three Maryland congressmen about gun violence that attracted over 500 viewers and generated considerable interest. All this while managing other high school responsibilities like homework, sports and extracurricular activities.

John Boughey is a medical doctor specializing in neurology. He practices at Lsu Medical Center Clinics in New Orleans, Louisiana and also works as the news director for KVCU Radio 1190 in Boulder, Colorado. When not working or playing music, John enjoys listening to local bands perform.

The Boughey family has a long-standing connection to Audley, Staffordshire, England. It is believed they first settled there during the 16th century. As prominent landowners in the region, they owned Knowlend, Ravenslane and Shraley & Wall. Descended from Richard Boughey of Knowlend who held both a house and 15 acres of copyhold land at Audley – an asset critical for their financial success.
