Jack Leahy, Cardiff City U21s Coach
Jack came through Brighton and Hove Albion’s academy system and made his debut against Norwich City in October 2021. Since then he has played in 2022 pre-season games against Cheltenham Town and Cambridge United.
Hamilton does an admirable job reporting on the two-sided rivalry between Boeing and Airbus, but I would have appreciated more coverage of Airbus’s efforts to moderate cyclical orders.
Early Life and Education
Jack Leahy stands as an exceptional Cape-Atlantic League coach or player. During his career he led Middle Township to three state titles and reached three NCAA tournaments from 1992-1994; thereafter he went overseas professionally.
He became one of Europe’s premier jet salesman, helping Airbus reach parity with Boeing in terms of aircraft sales. Additionally, he played an instrumental role in shaping and defining Airbus’s lineup of aircraft.
As a senator, Leahy was active in supporting health insurance reform and marriage equality. He co-authored the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act which protects data and intellectual property; furthermore he championed civil rights with great passion.
Over three decades, his career was diverse and multifaceted; with experience in sales and marketing. Additionally, he served as consultant, public speaker, author.
Leahy was known as an adept deal closer and played an instrumental role in opening up the U.S. market for Airbus during the 1980s by selling Piper aircraft before joining A380 superjumbo team and overseeing 15,500 aircraft worth an estimated total list price value of $1.7 trillion sold during his time.
Airbus’ retirement comes at a time when they are trying to regain sales momentum for their A380 jet, which has fallen behind Boeing in global order competition. CEO Tom Enders may turn to Christian Scherer, Executive VP for Strategy and Marketing as his replacement as Christian is known to be close with Leahy.
Achievement and Honors
Jack made headlines for Cardiff City U21s when his dramatic 25-yard strike secured a dramatic 4-3 win against Swansea City U21s at Leckwith Stadium. Jack comes from an established footballing family; his brother Tom currently plys his trade at Millwall FC in the Championship League.
Russian Hill Recording was co-founded in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district to expand his interest in designing acoustic spaces, and to demonstrate this further he received one of France’s highest civilian awards, the Legion d’Honneur.
John Leahy received the Aviation Week Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015. He serves on Airbus Group Executive Committee, overseeing Commercial activities.
Leahy was co-founder of Funky Features, a San Francisco graphics company, where he designed posters for two of the city’s acclaimed music venues – Fillmore and Avalon. Later he established Russian Hill Recording as an audio engineer for legendary musicians including Janice Joplin and Country Joe McDonald.
Since becoming Monmouth University’s 10th president in 2016, Leahy has led his University through a global pandemic and secured its largest ever private philanthropic gift for direct student scholarship support. Additionally, he has led national conversations regarding race justice.
Airbus’ move comes amid ongoing struggles to fill orders for its A380 superjumbo jet and uncertainty regarding short-term demand. Leahy could not be reached for comment; previously he served as president of Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Americans are keenly interested in how well congressional representatives handle their finances. With this in mind, Ballotpedia has tracked every senator and representative using personal financial disclosure forms for an estimated net worth.
Leahy owns shares in Vita Coco, the maker of coconut water-based beverages. Additionally, he owns shares of robot manufacturer iRobot Corp; though no public trading transactions were completed over the last five years. In 2011, Leahy coauthored the America Invents Act alongside Republican Rep. Lamar Smith; this legislation established priority for patent filing dates rather than demonstration dates as its priority factor.
