Henri must reconsider his life when his complacent wife Rita passes away, prompting a beautiful butterfly to enter and introduce him to another way of living.
This estate was established in 1885, located between Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay in the Cotes de Beaune. Henri passed his vineyards onto his son Pierre who took advantage of their father’s expertise to manage them successfully.
Henri Boillot wines are highly-regarded examples of their appellations, distinguished by a strong emphasis on transparency and authentic terroir. The estate boasts an amazing portfolio of premier cru sites including Clos de la Mouchere in Puligny, Volnay Les Angles, Pommard Croix Noires and Gevrey-Chambertin – as well as producing them using minimal intervention philosophies for maximum excellence – offering something special for connoisseurs and collectors alike!
Henri Boillot is a fifth-generation vigneron who began his wine education at his family estate before setting up his own mini-negoce. Later he returned to Meursault between Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay where his white wines quickly established an exceptional reputation.
Henri’s focus lies on sustainable vineyard management and low yields to achieve optimal ripeness, using larger 350L barrels, ageing wines in their cuve, and forgoing battonage to keep his wines pure and unaltered.
Henri Boillot’s wines, thanks to his traditional farming practices and access to spectacular terroirs, are some of the finest in Burgundy. Clos Cachet is proud to import his exquisite wines into Australia.

Henri and Guillaume’s domaine and negociant business produce top-tier Burgundies that have garnered critical acclaim from Allen Meadows and other esteemed critics, using sustainable farming practices in their vineyards, forgoing chemicals altogether, harvesting grapes at optimal ripeness using whole bunch pressing techniques and ageing in larger barrels to retain carbonic acid levels.
Puligny-Montrachet and Volnay vineyards boast soil that combines limestone with clay, providing ideal conditions for Henri Boillot’s white wines to flourish. His experience and knowledge has resulted in exquisite Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs which continue to impress today.
Since Henri Boillot’s grandfather established the domaine at the turn of the 20th century, its wines have undergone tremendous improvement. Under Henri’s tutelage at producing pure and complex whites praised by The Wine Advocate as being representative of their vineyard, sustainable organic farming techniques are utilized; chemicals are avoided through low yields with manual harvesting taking place at optimal moments for phenolic ripenness.
