Starks was born in Londonderry, New Hampshire on August 28, 1728 and resided in Manchester the remainder of his life. A member of St. Bernard’s Church in Manchester, he served in the Revolutionary War effort as well.

George Starks had a deep-seated passion for reading and writing. He created several hard-boiled crime novels under the pen name George Stark.
