Spanos spent his NFL career working as an assistant coach under some legendary Hall-of-Fame coaches. Bill Cowher and Mike Tomlin from Pittsburgh, two-time Super Bowl winner Mike Shanahan of the Washington Redskins and Dick LeBeau’s tenures as defensive coordinator in both Pittsburgh and Tennessee provided him with invaluable experiences.

In addition to his real estate company, he owns the San Diego Chargers NFL team and is one of the biggest sports owners in America.
