George Boutselis
George Boutselis earned his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. Additionally, he earned both his M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Aerospace Engineering.
He served on the faculty of the University of Virginia from 1962 to 1984 and returned in 2000. Unfortunately, he passed away in January 2013 at 79 years old.
Early Life and Education
George Boutselis was born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. As a World War II veteran, he served his community throughout his lifetime.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather to all his grandchildren. A member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Education is an integral part of human growth and development. Some of history’s most influential educational thinkers include Plato (360 B.C.), John Locke (17th Century) and Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925). These individuals advocated a holistic approach to education that included facts, skills, physical discipline as well as music and art – with the ultimate aim of creating free individuals who could bring about more harmonious societies.
Professional Career
George Boutselis is an acclaimed professional football coach best known for his illustrious tenure with the Baltimore Colts. Boutselis has been an iconic member of the coaching staff for nearly three decades, serving in various capacities such as assistant head coach, wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator. With nearly 30 years of experience under his belt, he’s proven himself a reliable leader and all-around good egg in this league. George Boutselis is widely regarded as one of the finest coaches in the NFL and an exemplary gentleman. His accomplishments have earned him many admirers and a highly sought-after coaching contract for years to come. A passionate family man, George is survived by his wife Antonia Katsikas and son Nick Boutselis.

George Bates is a Fulbright Scholar and member of the Bates College community. He possesses an empathetic listening and communicating style, which enable him to thrive in foreign settings.
His dedication to youth development and passion for teaching are evident when discussing his work. His patience and upbeat outlook make him an excellent mentor.

Personal Life
George Boutselis enjoyed a career spanning more than 30 years, beginning as both an NFL quarterback and college coach. Before that he spent two years as an assistant at the University of Cincinnati before taking three years as linebacker coach at Maryland before joining the Baltimore Colts in the NFL.
He was an enthusiastic amateur photographer and loved taking his family on vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee. A true gentleman, he was also an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell and proud father and grandfather to numerous children and grandchildren. Additionally, he served in the Medical Corp during World War II, leaving a great void in both his family and community of Lowell. His passing will be deeply felt by all involved with both families – the Boutselis’, as well as that of Lowell itself – that of this remarkable man will remain forever in memory of him.
