Improvements to FM 1387 in Ellis County, Texas

FM 1387 is a road that passes through Midlothian, Texas, approximately 6.5 miles east of US 287. It is part of Ellis County. FM 1387 was a part of the state highway network in the 2000s. However, it was later returned to the city. The road was renamed and designated along an existing city street to a new terminus.

As part of the project, the road from Marshall Road to FM 1387 will be converted from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane urban street, eliminating the need for a 90-degree turn. It will also be straightened at the new location and partially constructed. Although the project’s final schedule is unknown, the deadline for comments is Sept. 15, 2022.

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), proposes improvements to FM 1387 in Ellis County. The proposed project would increase the existing rural road’s width to four lanes, and add a 12-foot travel lane as well as a 14-foot outside shared use lane. Additionally, the roadway would be provided with five-foot sidewalks in each direction. The plan also includes turn lanes at intersections and side streets.
