Flock Party Denver Zoo
Flock Party at Denver Zoo
If you love wildebeests, flamingos and birds, join the herd this Saturday at the Denver Zoo for their first ever Flock Party. The evening will feature a moveable feast of food, drink, live entertainment and animal experiences. There will be over 20 animal demonstrations, Keeper Talks and a unique feeding at Benson Predator Ridge.
Flamingo Flock Tours
If you want to get up close and personal with some of the zoo’s most colorful feathered residents, consider booking a flamingo encounter. The tour is 30-minutes and includes behind-the-scenes access to the flamingo quarters. You’ll get a peek at lovebirds Freddy Mercury, an American flamingo with bright pink feathers, and Lance Bass, a Chilean flamingo with lighter feathers.
In addition to spotting flamingos, you’ll have an opportunity to learn about these iconic creatures and their conservation efforts. In the past, Denver Zoo has rescued more than 1,800 flamingo chicks in South Africa and worked to protect endangered species around the world.
The zoo also supports several other organizations that work to save animals from extinction and promote conservation efforts worldwide. This includes the Denver Zoo Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds for animal care and emergency support at Denver Zoo, as well as The Wildlife Alliance, which advocates for wild animals.
Flock Party
The Zoo’s most flamboyant flock, the 80 American and Chilean flamingos who call Denver Zoo home, will be moving to a new habitat in 2019. Proceeds from Flock Party will help pay for the cost of building the newest facility.
It’s a win-win situation for all involved: You can see the zoo’s most flamboyant feathered residents in a new habitat and Denver Zoo can raise money to help support its animal care and emergency response efforts. The zoo is currently operating on a limited funding basis.
Flock Party Tickets and Benefits
A ticket to Flock Party will grant you all-inclusive access to the zoo’s 80-acre campus, as well as animal demos and Keeper Talks throughout the day. In addition, you’ll enjoy a moveable feast of appetizers and themed cocktails.
For more information about Flock Party, visit the zoo’s website. You can also check out goodr, the zoo’s new philanthropic partner and the creators of the “Flamingos on a Booze Cruise” sunglasses, which are made from real pink flamingo feathers. The pair of sunglasses will be for sale at Flock Party and proceeds will go to the zoo.
Flock Star Ciders
If you’re a fan of the bright pink feathered birds, you’ll love the latest iteration of Stem Ciders’ popular cider Flock Star. This year’s recipe has evolved into a watermelon cider, so you can enjoy this festive summer favorite in its natural form.
The new brew was created for the zoo’s Flock Party, which is one of the Zoo’s largest fundraising events. It began as a blend of two of Stem Ciders’ most popular ciders, a salted cucumber and hibiscus.
While the brew is not yet available for purchase, guests can sample it during this year’s Flock Party event. The cider is paired with a fun and whimsical animal theme that will make the experience that much more memorable.
