A power outage Monday night caused a blackout in Escondido that affected more than five hundred customers. The San Diego Gas & Electric Co. said it was caused by a problem with its underground electrical system. The outage hit at 8:50 p.m. and affected areas including Dixon Lake and Daley Ranch.
The outage has impacted thousands of customers across San Diego County. According to the San Diego Gas & Electric, more than 5,000 customers are without power, with the majority of outages occurring in northern San Diego County. The company had to dispatch repair crews to the affected areas in a matter of hours. As of this writing, about 1,337 customers in Escondido are still without power.
