Diana DeGarmo – The Next Great Performer in a Musical

Diana DeGarmo is the next great musical actress. This actress has already appeared in three Broadway shows and three West End productions. She also leads the cast of Studio Tenn’s upcoming production of THE WIZARD OF OZ. This upcoming production is her first off-Broadway appearance. Read on to find out why she’s a fan favorite!

American singer-songwriter and Broadway actress, she was born June 16, 1987. She began her career in musical theater and became a runner-up on season three of American Idol. Her next role was on The Young and the Restless, where she played the part of Angelina Veneziano. She has since released a full-length album and is married to Broadway alum Ace Young. Diana is currently married, and lives in Nashville.

After her successful appearance on American Idol, DeGarmo signed with RCA Records. Her debut single, “Dreams,” reached number two on the Canadian Billboard Hot 100 chart. DeGarmo also performed on the soundtrack for the Disney film Ice Princess. She also performed on a song by the legendary songwriter Desmond Child. Her debut album, “Little Girl,” came out in June 2005.

After a successful stint in television and film, DeGarmo continued to work on stage. In November 2005, she starred as Maria in West Side Story. She replaced Tracy Miller in Hairspray Broadway the following year as Penny Pingleton. DeGarmo was a star in the 2006 national tour of Brooklyn: The Musical With Melba Moore. In April 2007, she made her Carnegie Hall debut in a Neil Sedaka tribute.

DeGarmo has been writing new songs in Nashville. She recently released an acoustic EP called “Unplugged in Nashville” featuring four original songs she wrote. This EP is available at live shows, on iTunes, and through DeGarmo’s MySpace page. The EP can be purchased for $15 on iTunes. You can also stream the EP from her website. In June, there will be a live performance in Nashville.

DeGarmo married Ace Young in 2013. He starred in “Christmas Eve,” a TV movie that starred Haylie Dauff. The two also starred in a national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which began March 4, 2014, and ran until April 2015. DeGarmo has been starring as Dorothy in Studio Tenn’s production of The Wizard of Oz since March 2014.
