Delphi Murders Press Conference
The Delphi murders have gotten the attention of law enforcement, the media and the public alike. With the reemergence of the case after five years, the search has been renewed. Investigators have scoured the area searching for clues and tips. But the biggest question remains: Who killed the girls?
Delphi is a town of about 4,000 in the far south of Indiana. Since the murders, the community has come together to help raise money for the families of the victims. Business owners have held fundraisers and the town has enlisted volunteers to assist in the search. However, there are still no arrests. That isn’t to say they won’t be made, but they can’t happen right now.
When Abby Williams and Libby German went missing in Delphi, authorities had some ideas about what happened. In fact, an FBI agent revealed that the girls were killed by a weapon, and that they lost a lot of blood.
While no one is totally sure of what happened, the investigators are confident they will find out the truth. The Delphi Double Homicide Task Force is slated to update the public with its findings at a press conference on October 31. It will be attended by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, the prosecutor’s office, and Indiana State Police. Several local news outlets will also be broadcasting the event.
Aside from the murders, the Delphi community has been flooded with tips and information. Investigators have received about 16,000 tips to date, including the first tip, from a man who claimed to have seen a woman with a gun in the woods near the site of the crime. Other suspects have been identified, but no arrests have been made. Hundreds of extra law enforcement officers have been called in to assist the investigation.
The most interesting part of the investigation was the composite sketch of the suspected killer that was released. According to the affidavit, the suspect was tied to a bullet found at the scene of the crime. He also made a selfie in front of the sketch, which was uploaded to Facebook.
The daily investigative team includes retired Detective Kevin Hammond, Detectives Dave Vido, Brian Harshman and Steve Mullins. They have scoured the area for clues and have conducted 500 interviews. Meanwhile, the FBI has rolled out a large-scale public awareness campaign that has used over 6,000 electronic billboards across 46 states.
There is a lot of hype surrounding the Delphi murders, and many people believe they are the “snapchat murders.” The rumored best case scenario involved a teen named Anthony Shots, who was communicating with Libby German on social media. Allen, the alleged perpetrator, was said to have been hiding in plain sight.
The most important thing to know is that while the details of the investigation are largely unknown, officials are confident that they will get their hands on the suspect. This is a big deal to the victims’ families, and they are hopeful that their loved ones will someday see justice served.
