David Spruiells

David Spruiells is an American football player who has represented the University of Missouri.

He has been married to Leana Calandra Spruiell (born Grubbs).

She was born in 1895 and lived in Texas.

Achievement and Honors

Spruiells was an impressive player during his time at South Oak Cliff, earning All-District first team honors as a defensive back. During his senior year, Spruiells set school records with 52 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions along with 12 passes defended.

Spruiells has achieved great success academically, earning a 3.0 GPA as a pre-business major. He’s an active participant in the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts’ instrumental music program where he was selected to compete in district band and is part of their drum major team. In recognition of his accomplishments, Spruiells received both LVPA’s most outstanding senior and graduate student awards.

Personal Life

David was an incredibly intelligent and sociable individual who loved spending time with his family and friends. As a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, he followed closely the activities of his children’s and grandsons’ sports teams with great interest. Additionally, David enjoyed camping and hunting adventures.

Maryhelen Spruiell is survived by her sons David and Bryan Spruiell; daughters Jonna Janet, Michael (Jamie) Spruiell, Amy Gross and Erik Spruiell; step-children Melissa Johnson and Vanessa Riesselman; 13 grandchildren Jameson/Lucy Janet, Cavin/Ellis/Wesley/ Hunter/ James Bostic/ Hunter Max/ Ryan Johnson Mason Aleyna Jarek Sorensen and faithful companion Tobey; predeceased by his parents and brother Bob Spruiell; as well as Tobey who kept him company throughout it all. In memory of Bob Spruiell who will always remain remembered for his kindness, generosity and integrity, we remember him with love!
