Socks are the most requested item in homeless shelters, yet they’re rarely donated. That’s what spurred David Heath to create Bombas – a comfort-focused apparel company that donates one pair of socks for every product sold.

Before he launched his brand, Heath personally delivered prototype socks to New York City’s homeless community. This gave him invaluable insights and direct feedback that enabled him to design the ideal sock.

Early Life and Education

David socks was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and earned both his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and MBA from Stanford University.

David socks has always had a deep-seated passion for others’ health and well-being. As an investor with Frazier Healthcare Partners, his focus lies in company creation.

He co-founded Incline Therapeutics, which was sold to The Medicines Company for up to $390 million. Additionally, he co-founded Cadence Pharmaceuticals (acquired by Mallinckrodt), Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, and Verus Pharmaceuticals. At present he serves on the boards of Outpost Medicine, Passage Bio, and Recida Therapeutics while earning him EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2017 distinction. Socks is the proud husband and father of four children, including 10-year-old Olive, eight-year-old Wilfred, seven-year-old Doris and Birdie. Additionally, he and his wife are active participants in the Special Olympics as well as designing socks for their own charity organization, Happy Socks.
