Early Life and Education
David Kalin is a physicist by training, having earned his Bachelor’s degree in applied physics at the University of Missouri. He has held positions such as computer specialist, engineering specialist and senior systems analyst for Ling-Temco-Vought Corporation in Dallas, Texas and Teledyne Brown Engineering in Huntsville, Alabama.
He volunteers his spare time for organizations that promote LGBTQ+ rights. As co-founder of the Intersex Society of North America (ISNA), he has received recognition for his efforts, including a KQED/Kaiser Permanente Local Hero Award.
David made his mark on the film world with his debut feature Swoon, which became an integral part of queer cinema’s new wave. David Kalin’s long and successful career earned him many accolades. At 20 years old, he became the youngest player ever to win a batting title, appeared in 18 All-Star Games, and became only the 12th person in baseball history to reach 3,000 hits.
He earned 10 Gold Gloves for his defensive excellence and was an American League Most Valuable Player Award finalist 14 times. Additionally, he finished among the top five in all-time home runs, batting average, on base percentage and runs batted in.
His performance against the legendary New York Yankees served as a testament to his dedication and ability to perform under pressure. He scored the go-ahead run in an important game against a team that had dominated much of his career in the American League.

He was born in Hayward, California to a French father and Mexican mother. As a self-taught artist, he enjoys performing music whenever he has free time. Growing up as an admirer of Hip Hop music with artists such as Michael Jackson, Brian McKnight, and Chris Brown as influences, he continues to pursue this passion today.
He is currently dating Myles Parrish, a rapper and beatmaker. Together they have collaborated on several songs which helped them gain notoriety within the Hip Hop community.
