Dave McGarvey is an American stand-up comedian and actor renowned for his seven seasons on Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 1986 to 1993.

He is renowned for his roles in movies such as Tough Guys, Opportunity Knocks, Trapped in Paradise and The Master of Disguise. Additionally, he appeared as a guest star on shows like The Oprah Winfrey Show, Live with Regis and Kelly and many more.

He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University and is currently a professor of urology at Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota. Additionally, he serves on the National Campaign Committee for Albion College.

Since 2006, he has served as a City Councilmember for Laguna Hills. Additionally, he is an active community member and has donated to many local causes. Furthermore, he has volunteered his time on numerous boards and committees; additionally, he serves as Traffic Commissioner for the City of Laguna Hills.

He co-created the sketch comedy group Good Neighbor with Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett and Nick Rutherford; their work received recognition from Steven Spielberg and Will Ferrell and led to them landing a pilot for Comedy Central. Additionally, in 2017 he directed Brigsby Bear which earned him an Emmy nomination. Currently living in Los Angeles with his wife Emma, he enjoys an active lifestyle.
