His success as both a driver and crew chief for Tanner Gray can be attributed to his meticulous attention to detail. He keeps meticulous notes on every adjustment he makes to his car, along with an exhaustive online spreadsheet documenting everything.

Early Life and Education

David Connolly was born in Newton, MA to Peg and Gerry on December 12, 1967. An avid fisherman, he served his country proudly as a major in the Army, Suffolk County District Attorney, and honorably discharged Coast Guard member.

Connolly has made a name for himself as an actor, theatre-maker and educator by pushing the envelope in his profession. With an Honours Bachelor Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from Sheridan College, he holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Musical Theatre Performance and is dedicated to advocating for disabled inclusion within the arts. Furthermore, he curated and moderated the first ever disability inclusion panel at BroadwayCon; is a volunteer ambassador for Shriner’s Hospital for Children; War Amps; and was guest of honour at Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. With such accolades behind him, his name will remain forever be written in history books for years to come.

In his free time, he races a Pro Stock car for Summit Racing and currently drives a Chevy Camaro in the NHRA Mello Yello Pro Stock series. This week, he’s back in the dragster at Mickey Thompson Million Dollar Drag Race where he will face off against Top Fuel drivers like Khalid alBalooshi, John Force and Jason Line.

David is an ardent supporter of disabled inclusion in the arts. As the only amputee to have performed on Broadway, David strives to make theatre more welcoming for individuals of all abilities.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre performance from Sheridan College and has also volunteered for Shriner’s Hospital for Children and War Amps’ Child Amputee Program. Additionally, he was one of the founding members of BroadwayCon’s Disability Inclusion Panel as well as being an ambassador for The Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
