He made history when he became the youngest Marine ever to ever perform the iconic cake cutting ceremony at an annual Marine Corps birthday ball. Over his career he amassed many awards and recognition.

Dan was an attentive father and husband. He leaves behind Carol as well as daughters Amy Keller (Nate) Keller and Jessica Loken (Greg Sopiarz), stepdaughters Wendy Horn and Sara Franzose as well as many grandchildren he was an exceptional uncle for.

He was an active participant in his community and longtime member of Rotary International. Additionally, in 1998 he served as president of the San Joaquin County Bar Association.
