Daniel earned a Ph.D. in economics from Washington University in St. Louis. Sanchez amassed 46 fights during his professional career and made 10 world title defenses at featherweight level, winning both WBC and The Ring featherweight titles four times each.
He resides in Scottsdale, Arizona with his wife Desiree and together are well-known Bachata couples, operating Gueguere (dance and sports clothing company) along with appearing in Nyno Vargas music videos as well as teaching dance classes and running live dance events.
