At Lebanon High School, Mount led his team in scoring during his junior and senior seasons, drawing the attention of college coaches who invited him to enroll at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana as an undergrad student. While in Indiana he played exhibition games against their varsity team. Mount once scored 57 points in one game – an achievement which earned him the nickname of “Rick the Rocket.”

At Utah Stars of the American Basketball Association (ABA), he continued his prolific scoring. One of the premier three-point shooters, as well as being an exceptional passer and rebounder, he excelled as one of their three point shooters as well. Since joining Saint Joseph’s University he is serving as campus recreation specialist overseeing intramural programs, recreation memberships and Esports; additionally managing fitness programs within their campus community.

Mount was born in Portsmouth, England to Debbie and Tony Mount – former non-league players turned coaches of local teams – before attending Purbrook Park School and starting his senior club career with Chelsea before being loaned out to Vitesse and Derby County for short spells of time. Additionally he competed at U16, U-17, and U-19 levels with England national teams.

Contract talks were unfalteringly made clear by former director Marina Granovskaia that Chelsea wanted him back, and mediator Neil Fewings was brought on board to assist with negotiations, with an offer made of an extension lasting five years.
