Joshua Daniel Hartnett was born on July 21st 1978 in Saint Paul, Minnesota to Wendy Anne Krosstedt and Daniel Thomas Hartnett (a building manager). He has three younger half-siblings. Joshua attended South High School of Minneapolis before enrolling at SUNY Purchase for higher studies.

Early in his career, he performed in small plays and national commercials before landing his breakthrough role as Michael Fitzgerald on Cracker – before going on to star in movies such as The Faculty, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and Pearl Harbor.

Since 2007, he has also taken an interest in various causes and campaigns related to environmental concerns, particularly by taking part in Global Cool, an initiative advocating green lifestyle choices alongside stars like Uma Thurman and Chanel Iman.

Professional Career

Daniel Hartnett is an accomplished actor who began his career performing small plays and national commercials before going on to film roles, such as Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down. Additionally, Daniel starred on Showtime series Penny Dreadful from 2014-16.

He currently owns and operates Long Lake Veterinary Clinic, an animal hospital located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. With more than three decades of experience as a veterinarian, he also boasts ownership and operation of this animal hospital.

Hartnett attended South High School until 1996 when he attended New York to study theatre arts at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Theatre Arts and Film. Following this, he moved to Los Angeles where he began acting, appearing in plays and commercials before landing his first major role on ABC’s Cracker in 1997; Halloween H20 followed in 1998; also, Hartnett appeared as John Tate alongside Elijah Wood, Usher Raymond, and Salma Hayek in The Faculty film.

Hartnett is known for starring in short films such as The Same and Member. Additionally, he has made appearances in Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down films as well as receiving ShoWest Male Star of Tomorrow Award in 2002. Additionally, Hartnett has always supported environmental causes.

Hartnett was raised by his building manager father and stepmother in St. Paul, Minnesota. While attending Minneapolis South High School he took part in youth theater productions of Tom Sawyer and Guys and Dolls that caught the attention of talent scouts.

After graduating high school, Hartnett relocated to New York City and studied acting at State University of New York at Purchase. Initially he performed in small plays and national TV commercials before making his breakthrough performance as Jamie Lee Curtis’ son in Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998).

Hartnett has been married twice and is father to three children from both marriages. Since 2015, he and Tamsin Egerton have been in an on-again off-again relationship and they’ve been living together.
