Daniel Akinkunmi of the Class of 2024 offensive lineman wakes up each morning at 4 a.m. His alarm clock goes off shortly thereafter, and then four times each week he takes trains from his hometown in Nigeria to London’s NFL Academy where he practices football.
He has become one of the nation’s most sought-after talents, garnering him interest from top schools such as Ole Miss who offered him a scholarship and remains high on his list.
Early Life and Education

Akinkunmi holds 31 Division I offers and is being recruited heavily by Clemson, Oklahoma and Ole Miss. His challenge will be finding which program fits him best; to that end he plans on taking several official visits this September before making a final decision in October.
Professional Career
Ole Miss has shown great interest in him since they offered in June; Washington State, Minnesota and Texas Tech-San Antonio also remain top options.
He only began playing football a year ago, yet is already in high demand throughout the country due to his size and natural talent. Each morning at 4 am, he takes an early train commute into London four times per week for four NFL Academy sessions at this academy which costs him approximately $1,000 in transportation expenses plus food expenses per month.
American food, specifically barbecue, has long been his favorite and he especially appreciates that portions are larger than in Britain. Additionally, living and studying here allows him to expand his education.
Achievement and Honors
Akinkunmi will collaborate with multiple physician leaders and coordinate employed provider clinical networks across ChristianaCare to align employee goals with organizational objectives. He will also oversee eBrightHealth ACOs and value-based programs offered by ChristianaCare.
Akinkunmi’s raw talent and extreme athleticism has garnered him offers from several prestigious schools, such as Ole Miss – which extended a scholarship offer just days after visiting campus – Baylor, Oklahoma State, Clemson University and Arkansas among many others.
President Jonathan presented him with the award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). Alongside him were seven immediate past Deputy Inspector Generals of Police led by Suleiman Abba, Chukwuemeka Onwuka from Zenith Bank as MD/MD and diplomat Ambassador Bina Citip Selchum from diplomatic service.
Personal Life

Kizz Daniel is the proud parent of Jamal, Jalil and Jelani; as well as Angela his daughter. As an active member of Nigerian community he has made donations towards various causes including cancer research.
He made sure to visit the United States twice this year with his NFL UK coaches for camps and college visits; on one visit he also made time to visit Tiger Town; he hopes to come back for another game later on this season.

Akinkunmi is an exceptional offensive lineman with immense talent. Though still raw in his development, he could emerge as an impact starter at the next level; and has already made quite an impression in college recruiting circles.
He currently attends the NFL Academy in London and is working hard to develop his skills for future use in America. Many top programs across the nation are actively looking at him as potential recruits.
Recently, he made an unofficial visit to SMU and impressed coaches and recruiters with his performance in front of coaches and recruiters.
