Dan Doriani – One of the Leading Voices on Faith and Work
Dan Doriani is Vice President and Professor of Theology at Covenant Theological Seminary, holding degrees from Geneva College, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Yale Divinity School. In addition to having written sixteen books he serves on The Gospel Coalition council and regularly blogs as well as founding and leading The Center for Faith and Work St Louis where he leads as Director – hosting both regular workshops on Christian work issues as well as hosting podcasts discussing this subject matter.
Early Life and Education
Dan Doriani is one of the leading voices on Christian faith and work, having launched a podcast, two books and leading the Center for Faith and Work Saint Louis. At Covenant Seminary he specializes in teaching Bible history, ethics and Reformation/Modern church history courses.
As an academic, Dr. Miller holds degrees from Geneva College, Westminster Theological Seminary and Yale University. At Westminster Theological Seminary he currently serves as vice president for strategic academic projects and professor of theology; previously serving as senior pastor of Central Presbyterian Church a large university church in St Louis.
He lives with his wife in Chesterfield, Missouri, with their three daughters. Additionally, he authored “Getting the Message: A Plan for Interpreting and Applying Scripture”, an internationally used textbook used in high schools, colleges, and seminaries worldwide.
Personal Life
Dan Doriani has held positions as both pastor and professor before becoming Vice President of Strategic Academic Projects at Covenant Seminary in St Louis. Here he teaches two core courses for their Master of Divinity program–Christian ethics & Reformation as well as Modern Church History. Furthermore he hosts an award-winning podcast dedicated to faith & work issues, has published two books related to that subject matter as well as founded and serves as Executive Director for Center of Faith & Work Saint Louis while maintaining membership on The Gospel Coalition Council.
He and his wife, Debbie, currently reside in Chesterfield, Missouri with their three daughters. He holds graduate degrees from Geneva College, Westminster Theological Seminary and Yale Divinity School; as well as serving for over ten years as senior pastor of Central Presbyterian Church of Clayton near St Louis.
Professional Career
Doriani has made his mark as an authority on Christian faith and work, from podcasting on this topic to two books and founding the Center for Faith and Work in St Louis. His latest publication Work That Makes a Difference expands on his prior thoughts with concluding reflections and discussion questions to make this book ideal for group study sessions.
He currently holds the position of vice president for strategic academic projects and professor of theology at Covenant Seminary in St Louis. There he teaches two core MDiv courses–Christian ethics and Reformation and modern church history–as well as elective courses on exegesis and church life. Furthermore, Dan has served Central Presbyterian Church of Clayton, Missouri in interim, assistant, associate pastor capacities. Furthermore he has participated in planning/study committees at both PCA and EPC presbyteries level for planning/study committees at presbytery level in both PCA/EPC presbyteries.
Achievement and Honors
Doriani is the author of several books, such as Reformed Expository Commentary on Romans. In it he explores Paul’s central teaching on salvation, church unity, and Christian living by employing historical, cultural, structural analysis as well as verse-by-verse commentary. Doriani wrote Work: Its Purpose, Dignity and Transformation in order to elevate work and encourage Christians to honor Him through their labors. Currently he holds positions as Vice President for Strategic Academic Projects and Professor of Theology at Covenant Theological Seminary as well as having 16 years of pastoral experience primarily as senior pastor of Central Presbyterian Church a large university church located in St Louis Missouri with whom he earned graduate degrees from both Westminster Theological Seminary and Yale University.
