Benjamin passed away on month day of death place – North Carolina where his wife Martha Sykes resided and their relationship produced two sons: George W Sykes and Joe C Sykes who survived into adulthood.

Ben was an attorney who enjoyed sailing and power boating off of Massachusetts and Florida coasts. He established real estate investment and development businesses in both states as well as running an acclaimed resale furniture business during his early years of practice.
He was an influential and important member of Decatur, as well as one of Morgan County’s finest citizens. A tireless and effective representative in the Legislature and a consummate politician.
HSBC recently appointed Sykes as Senior Manager of Liquidity Management to assist local businesses digitally manage their international cash. He holds admitting privileges at Crozer-Chester Medical Center and Springfield Hospital as well as serving on the board of St Joseph’s Hospital Foundation.
He enjoyed watching sports and playing golf. Additionally, he relished spending time with his family; acting as a source of strength, guidance, and unfaltering affection to their offspring and grandchildren.
As an active member of St Paul’s Church in King Cross and a graduate of Heath Grammar School and Giggleswick. Miles Sykes & Son was his family business; additionally he belonged to both Halifax Club and Probity Masonic Lodge memberships.
He currently resides at 6850 Whitebark Dr, Dawsonville GA 30534 as a retired businessman and philanthropist, has four children, six grandchildren, enjoys golfing, tennis, swimming and reading/travel. In short, he’s an devoted family man and great husband!
