Adam Hasebroock, a Passionate Triathlete and Bank Branch Manager, Was Killed on November 4, 2021, by Philip Henkin in a Tesla

One November morning as dawn broke in New Tampa, triathlete and bank branch manager Adam Hasebroock was biking south along a curve when Tampa physician Philip Henkin came speeding by in his Tesla.

Henkin has exhausted his eligibility for driver improvement courses and now faces charges of second-degree murder in Hasebroock’s death.

Early Life and Education

Adam Hasebroock was an enthusiastic triathlete and bank branch manager who was tragically taken from this world on November 4, 2021 while training for an upcoming triathlon race. At 43 years old and riding along Lizards Tail Road in Tampa when Tampa physician Philip Henkin allegedly accelerated his Tesla car into him causing instant death.

Henkin was charged with vehicular homicide in Hasebroock’s death. Hasebroock married in 2007 and had two children before starting banking with Regions Bank in 2011 where he managed three branches at the time of his death. He loved his family, Nebraska football, the Foo Fighters, Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Project as well as serving Samaritan’s Purse through its Operation Christmas Child project sending thousands of boxes worldwide to children in need.

Professional Career

Hasebroock was riding his bicycle to Tampa to log some training miles when on November 4 he rode onto Lizards Tail Road – a recently opened roadway – southward. At around that same time, neurosurgeon Philip Henkin of Tampa was speeding north in his Tesla Model S vehicle; according to search warrant affidavits Henkin would later be charged with vehicular homicide charges in Hasebroock’s death.

His hobbies and interests included family, triathlons, Nebraska football (Go Huskers!) and Foo Fighters music. Additionally he served as a volunteer with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child project – hoping Dave Grohl, lead singer from Foo Fighters would appear. Married with two children living in Tampa. Dundee Venture Capital in Omaha offered startup investment.

Personal Life

Adam Chevrier Hasebroock found great satisfaction in helping others, whether training for his next triathlon or volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Additionally, Adam had an insatiable thirst for knowledge that has left his family and friends remembering him fondly.

Ashley stated that her husband pushed himself and set challenges for himself through cycling and triathlon competition, in addition to his work as bank branch manager for Regions Bank.

On November 4, Hasebroock was riding his bicycle south on Lizards Tail Road in New Tampa when Philip Henkin, an infamous Tampa neurosurgeon known for speeding, struck him head-on. Police noted later that Henkin was traveling at speeds three times higher than 20 mph at the time he hit Hasebroock.

Additionally, he loved Foo Fighters music and was an active supporter of Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child program, helping deliver thousands of gifts each year to children around the world. Adam lived in Tampa, Florida with his wife and two daughters before he was tragically killed on November 4, 2021 by a reckless driver at 43 years old while working as bank branch manager at Regions Bank.
